Chiquita just agreed to pay $25 mil for their involement with the right-wing "United Self-Defense Forces of Columbia", an entity to whom Chiquita made over 100 payments totalling $1.7 mil. The banana giant is also said to have made payments to two different left-wing guerilla groups (FARC and ELN) between 1989 and 1997. Sooo...not only do they support terrorists, but they're not terribly picky about which end of the political spectrum their terrorist buddies favor.
There hasn't been such a scandal in the produce industry since Dole was found to be afiliated with the ultra-right wing paramilitary group "The 700 Club."
